How to Enjoy the Great Outdoors in Marshall This Spring
Ah, spring. The flowers are beginning to bloom, the birds are chirping, and
it’s (probably) done snowing.
But as new life returns to the Marshall area and the days grow longer,
spending time outdoors also becomes more common.
And more fun.
So if you’re in our neck of the woods in Minnesota, here are some ways you
can get out there, and see all of what we have to offer.
1. Go for a Bike Ride
Of all the great ways to explore the outdoors, bike riding is easily one of the
best. You can bike at a pace that suits you best, and cover as much or as
little ground as you’d like.
Between trails in town and bike paths in local parks, there’s a wide variety of
routes and scenery to choose from.
Didn’t bring your own bike? No problem! The latest addition to Marshall is a
bike share program. You can find the rental station at 3 different locations,
and keep the rental for up to 3 days.
So what are you waiting for? Get pedaling!
2. Go Fishing
There’s nothing quite like throwing a line in the water and relaxing by the
shore. And in Marshall, there are so many great places to go fishing.
Between the Redwood River and the Twin Lakes, there are miles of
tree-lined shores to fish from.
The lakes are well known for their Northern Pike, however, the lakes also
hold largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and walleye.
Regardless of what you’re hoping to catch, it’s always a good time on the

lands, there are hundreds of acres to be explored.
Keep the camera handy. You may spot anything from deer and hawks to
coyotes, raccoons, and mink throughout the land.
4. Enjoy a Hike
In addition to the chance of seeing wildlife, there are some fantastic hiking
trails to be explored in the locations listed above.
Looking for something a little less ambitious?
Take a walk along the boardwalks or paved trails found in one of the many
local state parks. Who knows, you may even find one of Marshall’s
picturesque bridges over the water!
5.Find a Camping Spot
By the river. By a lake. In the woods. In town. Close to town. Wherever you
choose, Lyon County has no shortage of camping spots and electrical
Whether you’re a traditional tent camper or a radical RV’er, you’re sure to
find a spot you love.
